Announcement Regarding the Completion of the 2019-2020 Spring Semester via Distance Education Management System

Dear Students;
Due to the global “Coronavirus Pandemic” that the whole world is facing, the necessity of taking certain measures to protect our individual and social health has arisen. We need to spend this process at home by adhering to hygiene and social distancing rules as much as possible. Firstly, we also desire to conduct education face-to-face. However, we must urgently cease our physical mobility to fight a global pandemic much more effectively. Otherwise, we may face much graver consequences. In this context, our University Senate has transitioned to Distance Education on 26.03.2020 with the decisions it made. In this regard;
1. The 2019-2020 spring semester, which was interrupted on 16.03.2020, will be completed through the “Distance Education Management System” starting from 30.03.2020, within the framework of the program to be announced by the academic units.
2. The courses in the II. Teaching program have been combined with the I. Teaching program.
3. Courses conducted by the same instructors in different branches within the same department or program have been combined.
4. Our students will be able to participate in and watch the courses synchronously (live) or asynchronously via mobile phone/tablet.
5. Students who cannot attend the synchronous (live) classes due to technical issues will be able to watch the recordings of the classes until the end of the semester.
6. Regarding the execution of associate and undergraduate courses;
a) The week starting “30.03.2020 (the first week of distance education)” will be a general review week.
b) Students will be held responsible for the course presentations uploaded to the Distance Education Management System in the midterm/final exams to be held in the revised academic calendar.
7. Regarding the execution of graduate courses;
a) Courses in graduate programs will be conducted via the Distance Education Management System, except for specialization courses, consultancy, seminars, preparation for qualification, and thesis preparation courses.
b) Specialization courses, consultancy, seminars, preparation for qualification, and thesis preparation courses in graduate programs will be conducted in a digital environment determined by the instructors and students themselves.
c) The qualification exams, thesis monitoring committee meetings, and thesis defenses in graduate programs will be conducted via the Distance Education Management System, and the principles related to the application will be determined by the Institutes.
8. Regarding course applications and practical courses;
a) In academic units where applications are made in the workplace, such as 3+1 and 7+1, the “Workplace Training” and “Directed Study” courses will be conducted via distance education. “Workplace Application”, “On-the-Job Training”, “Field Study in Health Institutions”, and “Summer Internship Applications” will be held at a later date to be determined (likely in the summer period).
b) The laboratory courses of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, the “Teaching Practice-II” of the Faculty of Education, the “Field Study in Guidance and Psychological Counseling”, the “Teaching Practice-II” of the Faculty of Sports Sciences, the “Teaching Practice” of the Faculty of Theology, the “Veterinary Medicine Internship Program (VEHİP)” of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, “Clinical Practice II and IV”, “Supervised Learning II and IV” courses, and elective courses that are only practical announced on the websites of academic units will be held at a later date to be determined (likely in the summer period).
c) Additionally, the theoretical parts of the “theoretical + practical courses” that will be announced on the websites of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Sports Sciences, Faculty of Health Sciences, Tourism Management and Hotel Management School, Bucak Health School, Burdur Food Agriculture and Livestock Vocational School, Gölhisar Health Services Vocational School, Burdur Health Services Vocational School, and other academic units will be conducted via distance education. The practical parts will be conducted on a schedule to be determined at a later date.
9. The execution of the Pedagogical Formation Training and other certificate programs conducted by our university has been suspended, and the updated calendar of the programs will be announced at a later date.
10. The TÖMER Turkish Language Education Program B2 and C1 courses for our foreign students will continue via the Distance Education Management System as of April 6, 2020.
11. Decisions regarding midterm, final, and make-up exams will be announced at a later time.
12. This year, although the summer school application seems difficult, it will be re-evaluated at a later time depending on developments.
13. With the normalization of the situation, it will be our greatest desire to hold a graduation ceremony in the summer months.
14. Since March 30, Monday will be the first day of distance education, some application or technical problems may arise. However, since the lecture notes and recordings will be registered in the system, you will not lose anything. There are necessary explanations and video recordings regarding the management of the system on our university's homepage. You can also get technical support by writing your issues to the specified email address.
